Podcast on meditation, a few thoughts
I listened to a podcast interview that I found useful yesterday. The podcast is Search Engine, here's a link
The guest, Rev. angel Kyodo williams, gives some basic instruction for meditation and a couple of things that stood out to me.
First, she says that meditation is more about the decision to keep returning to yourself, rather than trying to stay quiet or still.
Second, returning is word she uses, and it's almost unimportant what you're returning to, or unimportant in terms of concepts. This is how I'm understanding it. That there is an immediate reality, our life, that escapes concept. Just keep returning to that reality.
The way she talks about just being in her life, not on the sidelines and getting dragged in all directions by her mind, I found really interesting.
When I was looking for the correct episode to link, I came across a reddit post of this same episode. Strangely, the comments were overwhelmingly negative with a few positive ones here and there. People found it boring, or too slow. Maybe it doesn't fit thematically as well with prior episodes of the podcast? I don't know. But it's always a little funny to realize you liked something that apparently was not well received by others.
Anyway, I thought it might be useful for someone out there, and worth sharing. Until next time.
